Prof. Edeoga assumes duty as VC ... Unveils action plans.

Professor Hilary Odo Edeoga, Vice-Chancellor.Professor Hilary Odo Edeoga, on Tuesday, March 1, 2011,  assumed duty as the fourth Vice-Chancellor of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike. This followed a successful handover to him by his predecessor, Professor Ikenna Onyido, FAS, on Monday, February 28, 2011 in a colourful ceremony  held in the Vice-Chancellor’s Conference room.

On assumption of office, Professor Edeoga met with other Principal officers of the University, the Committee of Deans and Directors, Senate of the University and the entire membership of University community, comprising staff,  students and Heads of Corporate Organizations.

At the well-attended meeting with members of the University community, Professor Edeoga unveiled a 10-point agenda which shall form part of his administration’s action plan for the University. They include: increase in student hostel facilities; construction of a mini water works through viable boreholes with proper reticulation; landscaping of grounds and creation of gardens.

Others are: expansion of academic programmes; improvement of electricity supply; investment in the construction of staff quarters on Campus;  procurement of vehicles for Deans and Directors; procurement of new water tanker; expansion of ICT facilities and provision of satelite facilities.

In addition to the 10-point agenda, the new Vice-Chancellor promised to accord prompt attention to staff and student welfare by ensuring payment of salaries on the 25th day of every month and speedy delivery of services to students.

Professor Edeoga also promised to ensure adequate security of lives and property and  enhance labour and  community relations in addition to improving on the internally generated revenue of the University.
