The Advanced Digital Appreciation Programme for Tertiary Institution (ADPTI) workshop organized by the Nigerian Communication Commission in collaboration with Digital Bridge Institute, Abuja was recently held in the Abia State University, Uturu from 26th to 30th September, 2011. Seventeen staff of the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, in addition to participants from the Abia State College of Education (Technical), Arochukwu ,Abia State University, Uturu; and few representatives from other institutions, attended the workshop. The main focus of the workshop was the Advanced Digital Appreciation Programme for Tertiary Institution (ADPT) Training 2011: Appraisal and Experience. Five modules delivered during the training which spanned through the five days of the exercise included the following; Module I. Introduction to Computer Technology, while Module II dwelt on Microsoft Word (MS Word 2007) Exploration. Module III took care of Microsoft Excel (MS Excel 2007) Exploration, Module IV concerned itself with Microsoft Power (MS PWR PNT 2007) Exploration while Module V had to do with Internet Engineering. According to the trainees the workshop was practically oriented, well designed and the resource persons were excellent in their delivery. The courses and their contents were designed to capture and cover the tertiary institutions’ activities, job schedule and organizational structure. The facilities for the training were adequate as every participant had a system assigned to him/her for the training. The participants are grateful to God and thank the Vice-Chancellor and his Management team for granting them the opportunity to be exposed to such state-of-the-art technological training and promised to use the knowledge gained during the workshop to improve on their work output in MOUAU. The highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of certificates to participants by the Vice-Chancellor of Abia State University, Uturu, Prof. Chibuzo Ogbuagu represented by the Director, Institute of Computer Studies, Dr. J. U. Ogbonna.
