INEC commends DVC, Prof. Akobundu

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Enoch Akobundu has been commended by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for his exemplary role during the recently concluded 2011 general elections. In a letter endorsed by the INEC Chairman, Prof. Attahiru M. Jega, the commission appreciated Prof. Akobundu’s commendable role as collation officer and returning officer for the Presidential and Governorship elections in Imo State respectively. The commission also noted that the transparency, dedication, selflessness and leadership displayed y Prof. Akobundu contributed to the success of the elections. In another development, the Federation of Ikwuano Students (FEDIKS), Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike Chapter few weeks ago honoured one of their own, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Prof. E.N.T. Akobundu as a distinguished FEDIKS “philanthropist”. He was also cited for his exemplary achievements and contributions to the development of Ikwuano and the society at large. In his speech the president of FEDIKS, MOUAU, Comrade Aruocha Onuegbe disclosed that the award was given to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor to appreciate his fatherly assistance to Ikwuano Students and the community at large. Responding, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Akobundu who was visibly elated, thanked them for the award presented to him and congratulated them on the successful celebration of their cultural day. Prof. Akobundu advised them to be good students who will remain the pride of their parents and Ikwuano as a whole and congratulated some of them who were elected to serve in the SUG and SRC of MOUAU.
