The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commended Prof. Hilary O. Edeoga, Vice-Chancellor, Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike on his role in the recently concluded 2011 general elections.

In a letter of appreciation endorsed by the Chairman, Prof. Attahiru M. Jega, the Commission asserted that it is on record that his exemplary role as Collation Officer and Returning Officer for the Presidential and Governorship elections respectively, contributed in the Commission's ability to have conducted one of the freest and fairest elections in the country in recent times.

Prof. Jega further expressed his satisfaction with the transparency, dedication, selflessness and leadership style displayed by Prof. Edeoga all through the elections and disclosed that his individual contribution and sacrifice were central to the success of the elections.
