VC, Prof. Edeoga commissions new Sign Post … extols Royal Partners Group

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Hilary Odo Edeoga has commissioned the newly constructed gigantic sign post of the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike donated by Royal Partners Group. Speaking during the occasion, Prof. Edeoga thanked the members of the group for their good intention in assisting towards the development of the university, adding that this gesture of theirs will remain indelible in the of history of MOUAU.

He advised them to remain focused in their vision of forming the group and refrain from acts that undermine the of their colleagues welfare in the University.

INEC commends DVC, Prof. Akobundu

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Enoch Akobundu has been commended by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for his exemplary role during the recently concluded 2011 general elections.

In a letter endorsed by the INEC Chairman, Prof. Attahiru M. Jega, the commission appreciated Prof. Akobundu’s commendable role as collation officer and returning officer for the Presidential and Governorship elections in Imo State respectively.

New MOUAU SUG Officials take oath … promises better days for students

The newly elected Student Union Government officials of the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike have been sworn in, with a charge for them to join hands with the present University Management to ensure that their fellow students achieve academic excellence in this citadel of learning.

Speaking during the ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Hilary Edeoga who assured them of his support, advised them to take their academic pursuit seriously as this remains their primary goal in the MOUAU.

As part of the efforts of the present administration to take Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike to a higher pedestal, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Hilary Edeoga has approved the appointed of Prof. Onwukwe Alaezi of the Department of Agricultural Education as the Director of the Centre for Entrepreneurship Studies, MOUAU.

A letter endorsed by the Registrar, Dr. A.C. Nwokocha indicates that the appointment took effect from the 10th of October, 2011.

The Nigerian Institute of Physics recently held its 34th annual National Conference at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife between 11th and 15th October, 2011. Mr. Efurumibe of the Department of Physics, MOUAU was in attendance and presented a paper entitled: “Renewable Energy and Prospects in Nigeria.”

The Advanced Digital Appreciation Programme for Tertiary Institution (ADPTI) workshop organized by the Nigerian Communication Commission in collaboration with Digital Bridge Institute, Abuja was recently held in the Abia State University, Uturu from 26th to 30th September, 2011. Seventeen staff of the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, in addition to participants from the Abia State College of Education (Technical), Arochukwu ,Abia State University, Uturu; and few representatives from other institutions, attended the workshop.
