VCN Accreditation Team scores MOUAU high

The Accreditation Team from the Veterinary Council of Nigeria says they have a good report in favour of the College of Veterinary Medicine, Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike. Speaking when he led the Accreditation Team on a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Garba Sharubutu thanked him for the open nature of his Administration and the hospitality extended to them.
Prof Sharubutu expressed satisfaction with the structure erected for the college, adding that the various Departments did very well in their assessment. He however called for prompt attention of the University Administration to the following observations:
  1. Adequate staffing of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital.

Animal Nutrition and Forage Science Department salutes VC on his first 100 days

The staff and students of the Department of Animal Nutrition and Forage Science, College of Animal Science and Animal Production have congratulated Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Hilary Edeoga on his achievements in his first (100) days in office.
In a release endorsed by the Head of Department, Dr. M. C. Ugwuene, they noted that the achievements recorded so far including the various approvals from the Governing Council, giving staff welfare top priority, various meetings with some important groups in the University, as well as some recent appointments have shown his avowed commitment towards taking the University to towering heights.

A call has gone to the University Management to come to the aid of the department to help her address some problems militating against their optimal performance. The director of the Department, Dr. Felix Nnanna stated this when he led the heads of units of the department on a courtesy call to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Hilary Edeoga.

Dr. Nnanna who disclosed that the department’s problems range from inadequate staffing, poor  electric and water supply , need for a well-designed and befitting medical centre for a well-equipped operating theatre and diagnostic laboratory, as well as the take-off of the tertiary Institutions Social health Insurance Programme (TISHIP) to make for proper accountability.

VC commends Senior Non-Teaching Staff

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof Hilary Edeoga has thanked the members of the senior Non-Teaching staff in the University for the support they have showed him so far and called for its sustenance.

Prof. Edeoga who stated this in a meeting which he recently held with the group, disclosed that the meeting was convened to bridge certain communication gap which had been in existence adding and that he intends to make the meeting regular in order to carry along all staff in his administration.

He used the forum to announce the various decision of the Governing Council which was held in May in Gboko, Benue State to include the following:

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike has expressed their appreciation to the (VC), Prof. Hilary Edeoga for approving the allocation of land space for their secretariat.

In a release endorsed by the Chairman, Dr. U. A. U. Onyebinama the union noted that this gesture extended to them in spite of the land acquisition constraints confronting the university has demonstrated the Vice-Chancellor’s commitment to the development of ASUU in MOUAU.

The release further promised the union’s resolve to put the land into judicious use and reassured the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Hilary Edeoga of their support.

Recently Dr. (Mrs.) Caroline O. Akachukwu on invitation visited the Maharishi European Research University Netherlands (MERU) to discuss different areas in which MERU could collaborate with MOUAU during the visit.

2011/2012 Scholarship in Japan

Are you a graduate of not more than 35 years? Then this information is for you. The Government of Japan is to provide scholarships to Nigerian Students to pursue their post-graduate studies for the 2011/2012 in the beginning of April or October 2012.

A release endorsed by the Director, Academic planning, Prof. O.C. Ohaeri says the scholarship is open to graduates of  not more than thirty-five years of age, who have completed a first degree programme in a recognized University with good grades and who are desirous of pursuing further studies in Japan.

UNIPORT Alumni Association recognizes VC’s Scholarly Excellence

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Hilary Edeoga, an Alumnus of the University of Port-Harcourt recently received an award for scholarly excellence and support to the alumni association from his alma-mater.
In a well attended and colourful inauguration dinner party held in Abuja to celebrate President Goodluck’s swearing in, which featured several awards to distinguished alumnus and alumna of UNIPORT who is also a great alumnus.
