Chapter 5: Monitoring, Evaluation and Review Strategies
|
This strategic plan is an ambitious one. For it to achieve the desired objectives, its implementation must be adequately monitored, its performance evaluated and it must be reviewed periodically to ensure its continued relevance in the face of emerging realities and new expectations. Its successful implementation is predicated on a purposeful, aggressive and pragmatic leadership at every level and will enable the University to achieve the much-desired excellence in teaching, research and community service. Every stakeholder, from Governing Council down to individual staff and even student, will be involved in ensuring that delivery schedules are met and that standards are maintained. Monitoring of implementation of this Plan will be an on-going activity and will be at three levels: the individual, the project and the University. At the individual level, a set of performance indicators and set targets will be established for monitoring by supervising officers. At the project level, the head of each project team will assess the actual performance of the project against the projected performance. At the University level, there will be an independent assessment by external consultants. In addition to above-mentioned layers for monitoring and evaluation, the following will be put in place:
The Plan shall be adequately reviewed periodically (perhaps annually) in order to ensure its continued relevance in the face of emergent realities and global expectations. Of course, the current Plan expires at the end of five years and a new Plan must be evolved.
