The College of Applied Food Science and Tourism is one of the eight Colleges and two Schools approved at the inception of the University in 1994 as College of Food Processing and Storage Technology. This followed the establishment of specialized Universities of Agriculture in Nigeria. The name of the College was changed from College of Food Processing and Storage Technology (CAFST) to College of Applied Food Sciences and Tourism (CAFST) in 2008 out of the growing need to capture the various programmes of the College

It is my pleasure to welcome you all to Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike (MOUAU), Abia State, Nigeria, in general, and to the College of Applied Food Sciences and Tourism (CAFST) in particular. The College is equipped with qualified Teaching and non-teaching staff that will suit all your needs in the course of your programme. You will be required to participate fully in theory and practical courses that are designed to empower you as you graduate to face the current economic challenges.
